Mark Bryant - With the rain hammering on the window pa

With the rain hammering on the window pain it looks like this summer has been a total wash out! Most of the lakes round the Cotswold Water Park are now rejoicing as they are brimming with water that has quenched three years of drought. We will just have to pray for an Indian summer…..I will not hold my breath!

Since my last entry the time has gathered momentum and flown  passed me at a rate of knots;  it’s been hard for me to even stick my head out of the unit to ‘smell the roses along the way’. Something I must remember to do as before I know it my ever greying head will be silver, with me wondering where the hell the last decade went.

If I thought last year was busy for my company Baitworks then this year is double busy! The company is now growing at a frantic pace that can no longer be run just by myself. Seven years of hard work and sacrifice has now culminated in a move to a factory that will be three times the size we are currently in now. Exciting times!

The move to the bigger premises will allow us to grow and importantly to supply the huge demand for our products across the UK and more recently abroad. I for one can’t wait as next year will finally see the foundations laid for the next ten years or so…awesome! Not bad for someone who started the company with £500 in his parent’s garage and was told by countless people a living would never be made from it.

Now many of you would assume that I fish all the time but nothing could be further from the truth. I used to fish a lot more consistently when I had a full time Job and played semi pro football on the weekends! I still manage to get out most weeks for the odd overnight session or stalking (morning or evenings) but realise the importance of knuckling down and making sure the Baitworks house is in order first. In the future I’m sure that I will fish with more regularity but for the last year or so odd sessions have kept the fire burning. I recently had a conversation with one of the leading terminal tackle company’s directors and he very much echoed my thoughts. Hell, it sounds like I'm wishing away the years, far from it but as I said earlier you must smell the roses along the way. I have managed a few fish this year but many are from non-publicity venues here in the Cotswolds that I can not show pics of. I have included a pick of a 30+ caught this year that was caught on a rare overnight session!

One of our Atlantic Heat whittled down hook baits cast at showing fish did the trick. See the video here.
