Neil Spooner started fishing at the tender age of 9 years old and like many, it was fishing for whatever came along. This carried on for a number of years before starting work in a fishing tackle shop and very soon he turned his attention to carp fishing in 1999.
In his day to day life Neil works for Korda Developments as UK Sales Manager, and within this role he deals with seven Account Managers on a daily basis to make sure that they always have what they need. Prior to this (way back in 1998) Neil started work in Wass’s Fishing Tackle where he learnt about many aspects of angling. Neil worked in the shop for six years before leaving to fulfil a lifelong ambition in becoming a car salesman for Ford! It went well and he really enjoyed it to the extent that within two years he became a Business Manager. Neil tells us that during this time his fishing time really suffered and that he very rarely even got the chance to go angling. Nearly eight years ago Neil received a phone call from Damian Clarke explaining that the Sales Manager position at Korda was available and was he interested in coming in for an interview. The rest as they say is history and nearly eight years on Neil loves his job more than ever.
On the family side Neil is happily married to Sarah and they have three children, Connor aged six, Emily aged three and the final nipper, Freddie at just one.
Neil’s actual fishing time is very limited due to family commitments and most of the angling he gets to do is quick overnighters after work. Despite limited rod hours it doesn’t faze Neil whatsoever, because whenever he’s at the lake he stays 100% focussed on outwitting his prey, even if it means staying up all night!
